When our guests are looking for bottles of wine we always have a few questions to get the dialogue going, and one of the things we look for is the kind of fruit that’s preferred. For white wines we seek out those who prefer those such as apples, peaches, lemons, or melon; for reds we ask about blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, or cherries.
(No, snozzberries aren’t a thing - please refer to Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory for validation)
Now, we all know that these fruits are not infused into the wine but that the grapes’ molecules during fermentation produce aromas and flavors that remind us of these fruits. It’s part of the magic of wine! Spend a night exploring how to find these fruits in some of our favorite bottles, which grapes impart these flavors, and know first-hand what to ask for next time you come in to shop for your favorite bottle!
