One of the great wine regions of France is a small appellation just south of Bordeaux called Cahors. This unsung hero is having an incredible resurgence in the international wine community and tonight will be a deep dive into focusing on one of the most lauded producers in the region: Château du Cèdre.
This winery was the first to implement organic farming in Cahors and is known to have some of the most elegant representations of its indigenous varietals focusing on old-vine Malbec (known locally as Côt in Cahors). You will get to experience the birthplace of this popular varietal that eventually helped bring Argentina its worldwide fame despite being stylistically very different wines. Tonight we’ll taste eight bottles with our friend Alex Augustine from Martine’s Wines, a leading importer reviving massive interest in this historic region.
