Famille Ogereau “L’Enjouée”

loire valley, france |  2022

This month I will be showing two wines that are the epitome of quality meets fun.

Wine is the essence of joy, so I'm thrilled to introduce Famille Ogereau "L'Enjouée" which radiates pure delight. L’Enjouée translates to “the cheerful”, and this wine is destined to bring oodles of cheer to your palate.

Steeped in tradition and rooted in history, Famille Ogereau's wine journey began in 1890. Their family estate graces the idyllic commune of Saint-Lambert-du-Lattay in the picturesque Loire Valley, nestled on the sun-kissed south side of the Layon river.

At the helm of this storied estate today are the passionate father-son duo, Vincent and Emmanuel Ogereau. They are the custodians of a legacy that spans generations, and their unwavering commitment to organic farming and natural winemaking is at the heart of their philosophy.

The duo also marches to the beat of their own drum (or in this case, to their own tuba, which they both play and which you’ll see was lovingly added to the label). The blend uniquely consists of Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Gamay, Grolleau, and Pineau d’Aunis, but as the last two grapes are not allowed in red blends within the Anjou appellation, the wine is classified as a Vin de France (VdF) and is a testament to how independent and trailblazing this duo is!

Vincent and Emmanuel are also true believers in the art of nurturing the land, working hand in hand with nature to produce wines that reflect the essence of the Loire Valley. Their dedication to sustainable practices and a deep respect for the vineyards shine through in every bottle they craft.

Pouring a glass of “L’Enjouée” is like unlocking a treasure chest of sensations—juicy red berries mingling with a subtle hint of spice and a whisper of earthiness. It's an invitation to explore the rich tapestry of flavors that this wine has to offer. This wine isn't just a beverage; it's an ode to life's simple pleasures!

Its versatility truly shines when paired with dishes like grilled lamb, hearty stews, or grilled mushrooms. As you raise your glass of this wine, join us in toasting to life's joys. Celebrate the warmth of family, the beauty of a shared sunset, and the sheer pleasure of sipping a remarkable wine.
